Job posting: nonresponse researcher in SHARE

The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) at the *Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging (MEA)*, University of Mannheim, is looking for a Researcher (TV-L E13) with a background in social sciences or economics (Masters degree or equivalent) and a strong interest in social research and survey methodology. She/he will conduct methodological analyses with the SHARE dataset (http://www.share-project.org). Good knowledge of quantitative methods for the analysis of complex data and of the respective statistical software packages (e.g. Stata) is required. We expect fluency in English and a good working knowledge of German. Experience in survey research would be an advantage. We support applicants wishing to undertake a PhD. The appointment is for an initial period of 2 years.

Job description:

- Work on the project "Respondent Incentives, Interviewer Training and Survey Participation"

(http://www.survey-methodology.de/de/proj) which is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and is carried out within SHARE Germany. The project entails experiments with unconditional respondent incentives and refusal avoidance training for interviewers. Job duties include

  • Detailed project planning and preparation
  • Fieldwork monitoring of the experiments
  • Cleaning and editing of contact data and other paradata
  • Scientific analyses of the experimental effects on nonresponse and nonresponse bias in SHARE
  • Writing of working papers and scientific publications

- Support with the calculation of design and calibration weights for SHARE.
